The spotlight was on the International Association of Building Officials (IABO) during the 2011 ICC Annual Business Meeting and Code Development Hearings. Leading the Association, your Board of Directors was seen all week long in wide variety of leadership activities throughout the conference and during the hearings held in Phoenix, Arizona.

Chairman Jerry Mallory, Vice Chairman Bill Duck, and Board member Jeff Bechtold have been appointed to ICC's Building Officials Membership Council, CEO Tim Ryan was appointed to the Codes and Standards Council.

Several representatives from the construction industry have contacted IABO to inquire about the purpose and direction of the association. CEO Tim Ryan recently met in Washington D.C. with representatives from NAHB, AIA, NIBS, BOMA, NMHC, NEMA, NFPA, and IAPMO to disucss future partnership opportunities. Many representatives from the organizations were receptive to IABO and verbally supported the association.

IABO has just launched the new website. With that, a membership drive will begin seeking new members interested in promoting the professionalism of building officials. Memberships are already starting to roll in with new membership already representing over 10 states.

The International Association of Building Officials (IABO) was established to provide a forum for building officials to promote the profession and set up systems to provide critical public safety training to its members.
